Day 7 – 9.17 – Imitation Practicum

Today is a work day.  For some of you, it will be a very standard exercise in graphic design that should be easy to complete quickly.  If you have extensive experience in Adobe Illustrator and would prefer to complete the task on your own time, that is fine.  I have no problem with you leaving early.  I will walk through the assignment quickly (with the understanding that you should have watched some tutorials if you are completely new to this system) for anyone who needs it.

If you are new to Illustrator, this is a place to practice and learn, not get intimidated. In other words, don’t get caught up in getting things exactly right.

HERE are the instructions.

If you finish quickly and would like some more practice, download the resume templates (in the media folder in dropbox) and remix the design in someway.

Remember:

No class on Monday 9.22.

The EMPLOYMENT PROJECT is due Wednesday 9.24.

As a reminder, you are responsible for the following by 9.24:

  • Traditional Resume (one page)
  • Traditional Cover Letter (one page)
  • Non-Traditional/Multimodal Version
  • The original job ad (as a separate PDF file)

Turn in the job ad, traditional resume, and cover letter as printed hard copies (3 pages). Depending on the parameters of your multimodal version, you might send an email with an invitation to a prezi, a link to youtube, or printed hard copy.  Think of the presentation of these materials as you would if you were actually applying for a job.  Be professional (use an envelope or a folder perhaps).
