  • Create a unique wordpress account and set up a blog for use in this class
    • use the gmail account to set this up
    • over the course of the semester, we’ll be changing the look and feel of this blog significantly, so don’t feel tied to aesthetic choices
    • if you need help or are interested exploring different themes etc, consult the RESOURCES page
    • when you are finished, link your blog to the BLOGS page of this website in the comments section
  • Expectations of ‘technical writing’
  • HW: Using your new gmail account, send an email to harmonb462 (at) gmail.com.  In this case, your audience is the professor and the email will only be seen by the professor.  Make sure to include the following:
    • Introduction
    • A photograph of yourself
    • Career aspirations
    • Experience with English/writing courses at USC
    • What do you anticipate from this course?
    • What are your strengths and weaknesses in writing?
    • Experience with technology
      • Graphic Design
      • Video Production (include links to youtube if applicable)
      • Photoshop
      • etc?
  • HW: Create your first blog post.  Include the above information but adjust the content for a general online (public) audience.  In other words, please don’t just cut and paste your email into your blog post.
